Our Aims

The Aims of JfP

-To learn about each other’s histories, while building a grassroots movement.

- To spread awareness about the realities faced by victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the horrors of atomic warfare.

- Demonstrating Japanese people’s commitment to peace, through the creation of our own group and its continued activities.

- To reaffirm Japanese people’s own responsibilities towards peace-building, through discussions and interactions with the local community.

- To come face to face with the reservations of the older generation by involving youth in the local community, and demonstrating our own strong will to create peace.

- Spreading a culture of peace to the larger community through our cooperation with local groups and through our own activism.

We believe that we can spread the message of peace through the actions of our group. Through our activism, we believe that it is possible to overcome discrimination in all of its manifestations, racial, cultural, religious or political and help this community become truly multicultural. Furthermore, we believe that our work can stimulate and inspire activists in Japan to continue their own activities. On top of this, we believe that our events can become a foundation for future generations to espouse our concerns for peace, and to understand its importance.
